BELIZE

Crossing the border into Belize was quite a shock. The first thing evident was the fact that Belize is much much poorer than Mexico. Homes were run down, falling down, unpainted and had an uncared for look. Prices were high and it was a mystery how locals could afford to buy anything. Gas for instance was around two dollars a litre. Not surprisingly Belizeans themselves were friendly and interested in others. I was provided with free camping spots and good food. There is another side to Belize where the tourists and snow birds hang out but I choose not to head to the beach or stay in any resorts. My time here was far too short and a return trip is in order.
